The Widow A Novel by John Grisham

I loved this one—the small-town lawyer barely keeping it together, the wealthy widow, and how a simple will turns into a bigger mystery. Grisham's quiet tension and legal details hooked me, and it's a sharp, fast read that offers something different from his usual formula.

I enjoyed it, but had issues with uneven pacing and underdeveloped secondary characters. The central mystery is strong, and Simon is a compelling protagonist—Grisham's writing is sharp, and the legal elements are fascinating.

A masterclass in suspense—Grisham builds the world and characters slowly, and by the time the mystery unfolds, you're fully invested. Simon Latch is a fascinating anti-hero, and the final reveal is shocking and satisfying.

Very slow and sometimes dull—too many words to get to the point. Still, the deeply flawed characters made me want to see the best in them, and Grisham's storytelling is compelling, but I wish the pace had picked up.

A departure from Grisham's usual courtroom dramas, but in a good way—the whodunit elements add suspense, and Simon Latch is complex. The pacing lags in the middle, but the ending makes up for it. A solid four-star read.
