- Himalayan Chef Freeze-Dried Banana Crisp - 10 Bags

No page linked.
These are as good or better than any freeze-dried banana chips I've eaten. But .71 oz for $3.99 plus tax is more than most people, including me, are willing to pay!
These are pretty decent if you are looking for a fresh banana alternative although it is not quite the same. The start out lightly crunchy and then get chewy . I found out that I enjoyed them best when I put them in oatmeal. Adding water back to them makes them better in my opinion. From a taste perspective mostly. I also didn't enjoy the banana stuck in my teeth. It says single serving but I just opened a few bags and put them in a sealed jar and it and they stayed fresh/dry for a week or so without having an effect on the taste. They didn't have any distinct odor or smell that I could tell although I didn't stick my face in the bag. Overall I like them a lot. However if you have access to bananas and don't need a dry snack that lasts these are pricey for what you get in a bag.
Yep, those are freeze dried banana chips alright. They are a bit crispy, but not like you'd get out of the dehydrated banana chips you've probably had 1,000 times. They definitely aren't nearly as sweet as those chips either, considering those are usually sweetened.
When eating them, they kind of rehydrate in your mouth. That's also unlike regular banana chips. It is a bit unpleasant. It kind of feels....gooey? Imagine eating a fresh banana slice, but it starts out dry. It's kind of unpleasant. But, that's just how freeze dried banana chips are. It's not something unique to these.
Price wise, you have to realize that this is one little snack pack. Freeze dried banana chips are generally expensive, but these are on the high side, even considering that.
Freeze drying banana apparently ups the potency of the banana flavor. For me, it was too much on its own, but would be great as a topping on maybe some banana cupcakes or a banana shake.
These are actually delicious. But, if you're expecting regular old store bought dried bananas like you buy in the health section, well, that's not what you're gonna get. And that's good. Because these are not those sort of bananas.
As far as taste, they're pretty sweet, and there's no added sugar which is impressive. Sometimes dried bananas taste more like plantains than bananas, but not these. And they're initially crunchy, but after the first bite they sort of chew and dissolve in your mouth. And it's not at all gross, but it's an interesting sort of new way theyv'e freeze dried them... So, pretty yummy.
And there's like ten packages of them so enough for many many snacks. 4 stars.
